ADA University hosted the 1st International Library and Information Science Conference
ADA University hosted the 1st International Library and Information Science Conference with the theme of "Exploring Best Practices in Library and Information Science”.
The participants were welcomed by Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Qarayev, Provost of ADA University Patrick Quinn, and Dean, Library and Information Services Martha A.Speirs.
"In this world where information is becoming the basis for all economies it is important that people within all professions communicate and cooperate to overcome mutual challenges.
This conference is groundbreaking in that we are bringing together a large segment of the local library community to discuss best international practices with their counterparts from international institutions in order to formulate new solutions for consistent challenges that we are experiencing,' said Ms. Spiers talking about the importune of the Conference.
"This is a first step on the way to building a strong and growing information society in Azerbaijan and the region,” she added. In the framework of event UK Aberystwuth University’s Library services’ director, Ms.Julie Hart, Nazarbayev University Library’s General Manager Mr.Jim Agee,Tbilisi State University National Scientific library’s director Mr. Irakli Garibashvili also participated in the conference.
The conference continued two days and covered topics such as information service in modern libraries, directing education and research to right destination, digital sciences, and digitalising libraries.
